Marianne Pingree has joined Finesse Dressage as Assistant Trainer.
Marianne and Jaralyn first met in the early 1990’s when Jaralyn was working for Arlene “Tuny” Page. Jaralyn and Marianne reconnected at a wedding of a mutual horse friend in the fall of 2009, and when they realized they were living in the same area and both full-time in the horse business again, after 14 years.
Marianne trained with Tuny while in high school, eventing through Training level as a junior/young rider. She switched to dressage full time and imported her Dutch horse Juneau in 1998. Marianne competed Juneau in Florida and then deferred her acceptance into Brown University to go and train in Germany with Jonny Hilberath for two years.
In Germany, Marianne competed in the Young Riders and Prix St. Georges classes, and trained Juneau to the Intermediare I level. She also taught lessons and helped to break young horses with the Hilberaths. She commuted back and forth to Germany while she finished her degree in Economics from Brown, and while at school she coached the Brown Dressage Team. In 2003 Juneau returned to the states and Marianne trained with Lars Peterson until she graduated from Brown and Juneau was sold. Marianne had a “real” job for two years working for a large REIT developing their international platform (shopping centers).
In 2007 Marianne moved back to D.C., where she had spent the first part of her childhood, and worked in private equity until the market crashed in 2008, at which point she decided to return to dressage full time. She was the Barn Manager for dressage trainer Mary Flood until the summer of 2010. Married in the fall of 2010, she and her husband Albert live in D.C. and she will be serving as Assistant Trainer for Finesse Dressage, teaching and riding part-time. Marianne currently owns a young Dutch horse (Zion) that she has just begun competing in 2011.
